According to statistics from the Bureau of Labor Statistics at the United States Department of Labor, the number of fatalities in construction labor jobs reached 975 in 2008. The statistics information states this is 19% lower than the previous total in 2007. However, the number is still very high. Construction workers face serious danger while performing their jobs. There have been numerous incidents of construction accidents in recent years both fatal and non-fatal. In the non-fatal incidents, construction workers have suffered very serious injuries as a result of the accidents. Construction accidents can occur as a result of malfunctioning equipment or improper use of construction equipment. Regardless of the cause of the accident, all construction companies should take all the necessary measures to ensure the safety of equipment and construction workers should ensure that they have a handle on using the equipment as some incidents can result from a construction worker not using a piece of equipment properly.
