Increase in Dog Bite Incidents in California
According to a report from KGO-TV in San Francisco, postal workers in Sunnyvale, CA are seeing an increase in dog-bite related attacks. The report states that in the last nine months, seven attacks have occurred. While none resulted in serious injuries, there is a concern amongst postal workers regarding this problem.
According to the report, one of the presumed reasons for the increase in dog attacks is the fact that there are more and more people at home as a result of unemployment. Sunnyvale postal workers have begun mailing letters to residents stating that they will not deliver the mail if dog owners do not make attempts to control their pets.
There’s no question that people believe the old cliché about dogs and postal workers, unfortunately nobody seems to realize how true it may be. This report states there have been seven incidents in the last nine months. Many people do not realize the severity of that statistic. There are many more cases of postal workers being bitten by dogs and at times they can be severely injured. Although statistics show that children are more susceptible to dog attacks, attacks on postal workers are quickly rising as well.
