Child Suffers Severe Injuries After Entanglement in Window Blind Cord
In Burlington Twp., NJ a 22-month-old girl got entangled in a window blind cord and is now in critical condition. The child was at home with her mother on Parker Avenue when the cord entrapped her and wrapped around her neck.
She could not get it off, reports have stated. Police have ruled out any fault in the accident and it is being treated as an accident. The girl’s mother found the child and called 911 immediately at around 1:26 p.m. The first officer arrived immediately three minutes later. A medevac helicopter landed in a trucking company a block away in order to transport the child to Cooper University Hospital in Camden. Police are unsure how long the child had the cord wrapped around her neck before the mother found her.
There can be so many dangers in a home where a child is concerned. A simple thing like a window blind cord can impact you and your child’s life forever. It is important for product distributors to disclose these potential dangers to consumers and for parents to constantly be aware of what can cause harm to your child. If the potential for injury was not properly disclosed, or if the injury was due to a defect in the product, the manufacturer could be found liable for the child's injuries.
