A Rhodesian Ridgeback dog was involved in the second dog attack since 2009 when the dog allegedly bit off a 3-year-old girl’s ear. The victim in the second attack that occurred in April also involved a little girl. The girl was bitten in the shoulder and suffered puncture wounds as a result of the bite. An investigation into the incident was launched but there is no word on the findings uncovered in the investigation as of yet. The dog’s owner also has other Ridgeback dogs that have been involved in similar incidents.

A 5-year-old girl had part of her ear torn off after a German Shepherd mix dog attacked her. The dog had a history of attacks in the past according to the report on insidebayarea.com. The incident occurred on April 27th as the dog’s owner went to visit the little girl’s parents. The girl attempted to pet the dog but the dog lunged at her and bit off the tip of her right ear.

A Seattle man’s family has received $1.5 million after he was shot and killed by Seattle police in August of last year. The victim of the shooting was spotted by a police officer holding a woodcarving knife as he was crossing the street. When the police officer ordered him to drop the knife and he did not comply, the officer shot and killed the man. The man worked as a woodcarver, according to the CNN report.

The family of a 19-year-old Canadian woman has settled a lawsuit against the Correctional Service of Canada following the woman’s strangulation death in her cell. The suit was settled just after documented letters from the 19-year-old to her parents showed evidence that she faced abuse from the guards at the facility where she was imprisoned. The evidence from the letters was not included in the suit but they are being used as leverage to get the coroner to release videos showing the woman getting forced injections of anti-psychotic drugs.

A personal injury lawsuit against the Salt Lake School District filed after a parent complained her child was burned by a teacher has come to an out-of-court settlement. The school district paid the woman just over $50,000 in the settlement. The woman filed the lawsuit in April of last year after her son, who suffers from cerebral palsy, suffered burns to most of his left hand.

In Napier, New Zealand a contractor company was forced to pay $60,000 after one of its employees lost his leg following a logging accident. The company A1 Contractors Ltd. was being prosecuted by the Department of Labor following this accident. The unnamed employee suffered very serious injuries to his leg and required amputation surgery on the lower part of his leg.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Disney Princess Tricycles due to hazardous displays mounted on the handlebars. The handlebars had castle displays and figures mounted on the handlebars that could potentially injure a child who falls on them.

A 27-year-old woman died in December of an apparent drug overdose at the estate of a Former Anheuser-Busch CEO. The woman reportedly had oxycodone in her system which she took roughly five or six hours before her death. An autopsy also revealed cocaine in the woman’s system which she reportedly took about an hour before her death. A wrongful death lawsuit was filed in connection with the incident by Martin’s ex-husband on behalf of their 8-year-old son, Blake.

Naples, FL attorneys representing dog owners of dogs that have been designated as “dangerous dogs” argue that the dangerous dog laws in Florida are unfair to owners and unconstitutional. According to the Naplesnews.com website, a first offense can result in the “dangerous dog” designation and the dog could be quarantined for 10 days.

In Rock Hill, SC, a 48-year-old woman was bitten by a pit bull dog when she was walking into a Family Dollar store. The pit bull was being held on a leash by a 16-year-old. The woman argued that the 16-year-old made no attempt to pull the dog away when it lunged at the 48-year-old woman and bit her on her right thigh. The woman suffered a bite mark but the dog did not tear through the woman’s clothes or skin.

Two Gwinnett County, GA busses were involved in an automobile accident that injured the driver of one bus and 10 students complained of back pain. None of the children were seriously injured in the accident. The incident originally occurred when 2 busses were parked waiting for children to board.

The family of a 25-year-old Atlanta man that died in January of last year has filed a wrongful death lawsuit on his behalf after he collapsed and died during a sleep study. Brandon Harris was undergoing a sleep study at Emory Healthcare to test for Obstructive Sleep Apnea. The mentally handicapped man was told to lie down on a bed while he was hooked up to several sensors.
