Dog Involved in Second Dog Attack in 2 Years
A Rhodesian Ridgeback dog was involved in the second dog attack since 2009 when the dog allegedly bit off a 3-year-old girl’s ear. The victim in the second attack that occurred in April also involved a little girl. The girl was bitten in the shoulder and suffered puncture wounds as a result of the bite. An investigation into the incident was launched but there is no word on the findings uncovered in the investigation as of yet. The dog’s owner also has other Ridgeback dogs that have been involved in similar incidents.
At least three children have been bitten or scratched and one other person had their arm severely injured in an attack in 2004. The dog involved in that attack and the second dog involved in the attack several weeks ago have both been labeled as “potentially dangerous” dogs according to the report. This means that from now on the dogs must have a muzzle on at all times while in public and a special fence must be built at the owner’s residence. The report states that the owner was ordered to contact authorities if any attacks happened following the 2004 attack but in this incident, the owner failed to contact police.
When a dog is involved in a single attack it could be construed as an accident but when that dog is involved in multiple attacks, putting several people in grave danger, something should be done to prevent that dog from attacking again. The worst part about this incident is that several children have been “caught in the crosshairs” in these attacks and suffered serious injuries. The dogs’ owner in these incidents should be held accountable for his dogs’ actions and the victims deserve to have compensation for their suffering.
