Speeding Vehicle Kills Two Teenagers

Two teenagers were killed and one sustained serious injuries and was left in critical condition after they were struck by a speeding vehicle while crossing the street. According to thenews.com.pk, the boys were riding their bicycle through the street when a vehicle driving in the opposite direction as the three children collided with them. The two victims that were killed were 13 and 14 years old.

The 14-year-old victim died at the scene of the accident while the 13-year-old died after he and the other victim were rushed to a medical facility. The injured victim’s father has filed a complaint against the driver of the vehicle and police arrested the driver on unknown charges. Police have begun an investigation to determine the cause of the accident. No other details have been released as of yet.

According to walkinginfo.org, 5 to 9-year-old males are most at risk for pedestrian accidents, accounting for roughly 69% of pedestrian fatalities in 2003. The worst part of this incident is that two young children lost their lives and one is fighting for his life after being struck by a speeding vehicle. Children are known to dart into the street or accidentally cross the street without noticing when there is an oncoming vehicle. This incident demonstrates how there are many ways that incidents like this one can easily be avoided.

If the driver of the vehicle in this incident had ensured his speed was within the limits in the location where he was, he could have avoided the children crossing the street and the two children that died would not have lost their lives. In addition, if the children had been monitored by an adult, despite their age, their safety would have been ensured as well. The driver in this incident could possibly face serious charges if he is found at fault for this incident.
