The car company General Motors was forced to recall over 10,000 SUVs and trucks in two separate recalls because of issues with the transmission and steering. The company announced it was recalling 9,215 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon vehicles; both of which are 2011 models, because of a faulty shift lever in the vehicles’ transmission. The company said there were no injuries or accidents related to the defects in the affected vehicles and they have not received any complaints related to the defects.

An Indiana man caring for a Bullmastiff dog and one other dog will be forced to pay $1000 in compensation after the Bullmastiff reportedly attacked and bit a 5-year-old girl in the face. The dog was not on a leash and was completely unsupervised when the initial attack took place. The 5-year-old was transported to a medical facility where she was treated for bruising and small puncture wounds that ultimately left small scars

A Pennsylvania school bus transporting children and adults to a camp overturned on a rural road injuring 23 people total. Police reported 17 of those people, which included adults and children, were transported to one hospital while 6 others were transported to a second hospital. All occupants in the bus were said to be in stable condition and nobody suffered life-threatening injuries in the incident.

Animal control authorities are currently investigating conflicting reports about a pit bull blamed for attacking and biting a Fort Collins woman. The attack caused the woman to suffer a broken hand as a result of the bite. The 24-year-old woman told animal control that she was sitting on her patio in the backyard of her townhome when she was attacked by a dog living in her neighbor’s yard.

In Pittsburgh, PA, an elderly man in a motorized wheelchair reportedly rode into downtown Pittsburgh traffic and caused a three-vehicle accident July 12th. The accident occurred in a domino effect as the first two vehicles stopped just in time to prevent from striking the elderly man but the third vehicle was unable to stop and collided with the second vehicle, which resulted in a collision with the first vehicle.

A police officer suffered minor bite injuries after he was bitten by a police dog. The incident occurred just after a high speed chase involving three armed robbery suspects. Police officers used barriers on the road to stop the suspects from fleeing. After the chase was over the police officer was conducting a search inside the suspect’s SUV and the dog reportedly mistook the officer for a robber and attacked him.

In Humble, Texas the family of a 23-year-old man who died in an automobile accident in April is filing a wrongful death lawsuit against the bar where the victim was drinking prior to the accident. The 23-year-old man was one of two people who died in the single-vehicle accident. The accident occurred April 27th when the vehicle collided into a ditch and then into two poles. The collision caused the vehicle to go airborne and the second victim to be ejected from the vehicle.

An Idaho teen’s death in a single-vehicle accident has spurned a wrongful death lawsuit from the teenager’s family. The incident originally occurred in September when the 18-year-old was traveling at high speeds and failed to turn through a curve in the road. Authorities found the victim’s blood alcohol level was just over two times the legal limit.
