Single-Car Crash That Caused Injuries under Investigation

A single-vehicle accident in which a 35-year-old man flipped over driving a 2000 Ford Windstar minivan is currently under investigation. The accident occurred when the driver lost control of the vehicle and traveled over a guardrail and down an embankment ultimately landing right-side-up at the bottom. The driver did not have a driver’s license at the time of the accident.

He was transported to a medical facility for treatment of serious injuries following the crash. The driver had his two daughters with him, ages 10 and 11 years old. The 10-year-old suffered a serious leg injury and the 11-year-old suffered a facial injury. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. An investigation is ongoing and charges could be filed against the driver pending the results of that investigation. The driver submitted to a test to determine his blood alcohol level as authorities found him showing signs of intoxication. The driver’s blood alcohol level was not given.

Although no charges have been filed in this accident, the fact that the driver was operating a vehicle without a license could become a factor in determining if charges should be filed. If the driver was intoxicated at the time of the accident, this could be used against him, especially since he caused injury to two young children in the process. Drunken driving is one of the most common causes of both multi-car and single-car accidents throughout the country.

Depending on the blood alcohol level that the driver had in this case, the charges against him could be steep. In multi-car accidents, the person who drives while intoxicated could be held accountable for the accident because their intoxication could be proven to have directly caused the accident. Depending on the severity of the injuries the victims suffer in these cases, the drivers could face serious penalties in connection with the accident. Driving without a license may not be an act that places anybody in danger but it could cause charges to be increased, therefore further increasing the penalties against the driver. Everyone should ensure their driver’s license is up to date before stepping into a vehicle because the penalties they could face could be extremely serious.

This is a very tragic and sad case. Hopefully this guy was not under the influence of alcohol. If you could update the status of this matter it would be greatly appreciated.
