Five-Car Pile-Up Leaves Victim Trapped Under Car

A 21-year-old man was found trapped underneath his Ford Mustang vehicle following a five-car pile-up in Warwick, R.I. The accident occurred when the 21-year-old driver lost control of his vehicle and veered into the opposite, oncoming traffic lane. The vehicle was struck by a pickup truck and came to a stop near a parked car in a parking lot.

The driver was ejected from and pinned underneath his vehicle. The victim was listed in critical condition after the crash but has since been upgraded to stable condition. The other vehicles involved in this incident collided with the pickup truck in a secondary accident. The drivers involved in that accident suffered minor injuries. The accident is still under investigation to determine the cause.

When an accident occurs, one of the dangers associated with them is secondary accidents occurring after the first. At times these secondary accidents don’t happen immediately after the first; instead they happen minutes later as other drivers watch what is going on. Even authorities trying to clean up the initial accident are in danger of a secondary accident from an inattentive driver on the roadway. Despite this secondary accident, the unfortunate part of this incident is the fact that a 21-year-old lost his life after being ejected from his vehicle.

There are many things we, as drivers, can do to prevent a serious accident from occurring. The most important thing is to stay at or below the speed limit. Driving at high speed not only puts you at risk of serious injury in the event of an accident but it also puts pedestrians in danger as well. It could also increase the chances of a multi-car accident as in this case; if someone is driving at high speeds it reduces their chances of being able to stop abruptly if there is another vehicle or obstruction in front of them.

Fortunately, the victim in this incident was upgraded to stable condition and will most likely have a full recovery from the injuries he suffered in this accident. Since he was ejected from his vehicle and subsequently pinned underneath it, the injuries he could have suffered could have been far worse than they were in the end. Given the severity of the situation, the 21-year-old man is very lucky to have survived this accident.
