Child Faces Possibly Life-Threatening Injures in Dog Attack

A child in North Carolina faced possibly life-threatening injuries including an injury to the face after being bitten by a pit bull. According to the property manager of the apartment where the child lived, the child was trying to take food or a toy from the dog when it attacked and bit the child. Emergency crews arrived to the child’s home to find that the child suffered a bite to the face and other injuries in the attack. The child was transported to a medical facility for treatment but the condition of the child is unknown.

One of the most important details about dogs that some people may not realize at first is that they are territorial animals. They will be quick to attack a person or another animal if it feels a threat against their territory in any way. Even if a person or animal does not necessarily approach the dog in a threatening manner, the dog can still attack because they act purely on instinct. Depending how strongly the dog reacts to the perceived threat, the worse the dog attack may be against the victim.

Another factor that should be taken into consideration is that many dogs don’t like to be disturbed when they are eating or playing with their toys. In some cases, when a person or other animal approaches the dog when they are eating or playing with toys their first reaction is to start growling at them. If they are still being approached, they will lash out at the person or animal, sometimes causing a serious injury in the process.

Children should always be monitored when they are playing with or in the vicinity of a dog to ensure their safety and the safety of the dog as well. In this incident, if the dog was being monitored and the owner did not do anything to prevent the attack, the owner could be held liable for the injuries the child suffered in this incident. If the child had been killed as a result of the attack, the dog owner may have faced serious criminal penalties as a result. Parents should always ensure their children are safe in the vicinity of a dog so that accidents like this one can be avoided.

If you or a loved one are bitten by a dog and suffer some type of injury as a result, you should consult an attorney who can assist you in getting compensation for that attack. Children and other people should be able to take comfort in the fact that they are safe from dog attacks of this nature and that they will not suffer the same type of injuries that the victim in this incident has suffered.
