Recall Issued for Iams Dog Food

Procter & Gamble has issued a recall for its Iams brand dog food. The recalled bags contain high levels of aflatoxin, a chemical that can be harmful to dogs if swallowed.

The product recall is for Iams ProActive Health Smart Puppy dry dog food with "Use By" dates of Feb. 5-6, 2013. The recall covers seven-, eight-, and 17.5-pound bags of the dog food.

The products were recalled because they contain levels of aflatoxin that are above the acceptable limits. Aflatoxin is a naturally-occuring substance in the dog food that can be harmful to dogs if consumed in large quantities.
