Girl in U.K. Bitten by Dog, Suffers Bruising From Attack

A 10-year-old girl was the victim of a dog attack involving a Yorkshire terrier dog in the United Kingdom. The dog was one of 3 dogs owned by an elderly woman and police are now looking for the dog’s owner following this incident. The elderly woman reportedly caught a bus to a hospital after the attack had happened. The girl had been bitten in the ankle and suffered bruising as a result of the attack. Police are asking citizens to provide any information they can regarding the attack or the whereabouts of the elderly woman that owned the dog.

Police have said to contact PC Tracey Riddell at Great Yarmouth South Safer Neighbourhood Team on 101 or to call Crimestoppers. Anybody with information is urged to contact police to help them find the elderly woman connected to this incident so that the 10-year-old girl and her family can get the justice they deserve to have following this attack. Although the Yorkshire terrier breed of dogs is a very small dog, it does not mean that they cannot be violent dogs or that they cannot be aggressive. Even the smallest dog can easily hurt somebody if they bite them hard enough or if they come in contact with rabies and transfer it to their victim.

Dog attacks can occur without any notice as is possible in this incident. Despite the size of the dog, a dog attack can be very dangerous for the victim and anybody around the dog at the time of the attack. If a dog senses a threat against it, such as when a person tries to get them off the victim or approaches the dog in a threatening way, the dog will quickly attack regardless of its size and could cause serious injuries as a result, as this incident demonstrates.

The little girl in this incident should not have to suffer regardless of the size of the dog that attacked her. Some may argue that there are always two sides to every story and while that may be true, without the presence of the elderly woman that the dog belonged to, there is no way to get both sides of the story to confirm whether or not the attack happened the way it was reported. In either case, the girl’s family should be able to hire an attorney to get compensation for the injuries the girl sustained as a result of this attack.
