New York to Enforce Death Penalty for Dog Bite Cases
In Saugerties, NY, police and the dog warden will be enforcing a “two bite” law that states if a dog bites a human or another dog twice, that dog could be euthanized. Pet owners are strongly encouraged not to allow their dogs to roam free in order to prevent potential dog bite cases according to Saugerties police. This rule has already been set in place but it will now see stronger enforcement against attacking dogs. In a previous incident, a Biscon dog was attacked and bitten by two pit bulls owned by neighboring families
. The dog survived and required 100 stitches to close the wounds that it suffered in the attack. Victims of dog attacks are strongly encouraged to contact police and the dog warden to report the attacking animal.
There are many arguments about this law being enforced in New York. Some may completely disagree with enforcing this law because it vilifies animals. Others say laws like this are extremely important because it provides a measure of safety for humans and animals alike. Regardless whether one would agree with this law or not, the thing to take note of is that the safety of the citizens and their pets is what is most important. Nobody should be in a situation where they could be in serious danger because of a dangerous or aggressive dog.
Laws pertaining to dogs are set in place in order to protect the citizens of the city where they are enacted. Many dog bite cases result in extremely serious injuries to the victims and many cases occur because dogs are not on a leash or in an area away from citizens. Many dog bite incidents result in the victim requiring serious reconstructive surgery because of the extensive injuries they suffer as a result of the dog attack.
If you or somebody you know has been attacked and bitten by an aggressive dog, you should contact an attorney who can assist you in getting compensation and justice for your injuries and damages. People should be able to know that their safety and the safety of their pets will not be compromised because of other potentially aggressive animals roaming around.
