Georgia state laws on dogs could be on the verge of change following a press conference with lawmakers and a 10-year-old girl that was attacked and bitten by two pit bull dogs. The victim suffered injuries to her arms that caused her to lose full function of her right arm and she lost part of her left arm. The attack happened when the girl, then 8 years old, was walking through her neighborhood and was attacked by the two dogs. The victim spoke at the press conference and stated she believes dog owners should be sentenced to serve jail time if they own a vicious dog that attacks another person.

A 10-year-old girl was the victim of a dog attack involving a Yorkshire terrier dog in the United Kingdom. The dog was one of 3 dogs owned by an elderly woman and police are now looking for the dog’s owner following this incident. The elderly woman reportedly caught a bus to a hospital after the attack had happened. The girl had been bitten in the ankle and suffered bruising as a result of the attack. Police are asking citizens to provide any information they can regarding the attack or the whereabouts of the elderly woman that owned the dog.

An Illinois dog owner was left in critical condition after being attacked and bitten by their two American Bulldogs. Illinois police said they responded to the call in the morning hours and found the dog owner had been bitten by the dogs. The extent of the owner’s injuries was not released but police were conducting an investigation into the incident. The two dogs were taken into custody by animal control pending results of the investigation. The owner of the dogs was taken to a medical facility for treatment of their injuries following the attack.

In Saugerties, NY, police and the dog warden will be enforcing a “two bite” law that states if a dog bites a human or another dog twice, that dog could be euthanized. Pet owners are strongly encouraged not to allow their dogs to roam free in order to prevent potential dog bite cases according to Saugerties police. This rule has already been set in place but it will now see stronger enforcement against attacking dogs. In a previous incident, a Biscon dog was attacked and bitten by two pit bulls owned by neighboring families

A 19-year-old woman had her right ear bitten off by the family dog as she was having a seizure. The incident occurred in the woman’s home in west Philadelphia and the woman was transported to a medical facility following the attack.

An 8-yerar-old boy in Florida had to be rushed to the hospital because of injuries he suffered as a result of a pit bull dog attack. The attack happened outside the boy’s home and the dog chased the boy inside the home following the attack. The homeowners chased the dog away and animal care authorities removed it from the area. The child was transported by air to a medical facility for treatment of wounds to his face. Despite the cuts to his face, the boy was not more seriously injured in the attack. There is no report whether or not animal control authorities maintained custody of the dog.

A child in North Carolina faced possibly life-threatening injuries including an injury to the face after being bitten by a pit bull. According to the property manager of the apartment where the child lived, the child was trying to take food or a toy from the dog when it attacked and bit the child. Emergency crews arrived to the child’s home to find that the child suffered a bite to the face and other injuries in the attack. The child was transported to a medical facility for treatment but the condition of the child is unknown.

A woman has been forced to relocate her dog out of the city limits of Brownsville, TX after the dog bit a 2-year-old girl in the face. The toddler was reportedly wandering into the dog’s yard and tried to give the dog a hug when it attacked and bit her. The 28-year-old owner gave custody of the dog to Animal Regulation and Care Center but she must find a new place for the dog outside of the city limits as a result of the attack.

After a small Terrier mix dog attacked and bit a 19-month-old child, the dog’s owner was cited for allowing his dog to run loose without supervision. The Kentucky courts will be handing down a fine to the 64-year-old man in connection with this incident. The attack originally occurred when the 19-month-old was trying to pet the dog on her family’s porch. The child was bitten in the face and had to be treated by medical staff. Authorities found the dog had not had a rabies vaccination and had to be quarantined at a Davidson County animal shelter.

A two-year-old boy bitten by the family dog suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a medical facility. The dog in question was described as an 11-year-old Husky dog and the family said they would turn it over to the custody of animal control the same afternoon of the dog attack. The family stated that the dog was not known to be aggressive but still chose not to keep it in the home following the attack.

In Pittsburgh, PA, a 6-year-old boy was bitten by a large Akita mix as he was walking home from school. The first-grade student was walking past a fenced-in area when the 1½-year-old Akita mix went underneath the fence and attacked the boy. The boy’s wounds required 10 stitches to repair but doctors expect the boy to recover completely from the attack.

A Merrick County woman was transported to a medical facility with dog bites on her arms and head following a pit bull attack. The incident occurred when the victim reportedly got into a verbal argument with the dog’s owner. As the fight continued, the dog became agitated and attacked the victim. The dog’s owner suffered minor scratches and scrapes but the victim suffered bites to her arms and head.

A Houston, TX man was killed and two others were injured after a scuffle that came about because of a dog bite. The incident occurred early this week when the three people involved were at a party. One of the people got upset after he was bitten in the leg at the party. The man confronted the dog owner and left the party soon after. The man came back later in the day with a gun and killed the dog owner and wounded two others in the scuffle.

The owner of three pit bull dogs that attacked a fourteen month old toddler and bit her in the face has been arrested and charged with two felony charges in connection with the incident. The incident occurred last week when three pit bull dogs owned by the girl’s grandfather knocked the girl down and began biting her. Two of the dogs were originally taken into quarantine following the incident.

In Moorhead, MN a report had been released about a 52-year-old woman who claimed she was standing at a corner waiting for a bus to arrive when a medium to large-size dog suddenly lunged at her and bit her several times in the face. The woman originally told police she believed the dog was a pit bull or bull dog and that the attack was unprovoked. When police investigated further the following day, the victim admitted to police that the attack actually happened at an acquaintance’s home as she was reaching down to pet some puppies that the dog had.

An Indiana man caring for a Bullmastiff dog and one other dog will be forced to pay $1000 in compensation after the Bullmastiff reportedly attacked and bit a 5-year-old girl in the face. The dog was not on a leash and was completely unsupervised when the initial attack took place. The 5-year-old was transported to a medical facility where she was treated for bruising and small puncture wounds that ultimately left small scars

Animal control authorities are currently investigating conflicting reports about a pit bull blamed for attacking and biting a Fort Collins woman. The attack caused the woman to suffer a broken hand as a result of the bite. The 24-year-old woman told animal control that she was sitting on her patio in the backyard of her townhome when she was attacked by a dog living in her neighbor’s yard.

A police officer suffered minor bite injuries after he was bitten by a police dog. The incident occurred just after a high speed chase involving three armed robbery suspects. Police officers used barriers on the road to stop the suspects from fleeing. After the chase was over the police officer was conducting a search inside the suspect’s SUV and the dog reportedly mistook the officer for a robber and attacked him.

Heath, Ohio police are on the lookout for a couple after their dog reportedly bit a 7-year-old boy at a Sonic Drive-In restaurant. Police said witnesses reported a group of children speaking with the couple asking if they could pet their dog. The woman reportedly told the kids that the dog was not always friendly with children. The children started to walk away from the couple when the dog lunged at the 7-year-old and bit him.

A 12-year-old boy was listed in serious condition at a San Diego children’s hospital after being attacked and mauled by a pit bull dog while he was walking into the back yard of his neighbor’s home. The incident occurred late June 13th when the boy went to his neighbor’s home to retrieve a towel that fell into the back yard. The neighbor accompanied the boy to the back yard and as the boy opened the sliding door to the back yard, the pit bull dove on the boy.

A Salem, IN woman was walking a small dog through her neighborhood when she was attacked and bitten by a second, larger dog running loose. The woman suffered bite wounds to her left arm and was taken to a local medical center for treatment. The incident occurred when the bigger dog ran across the street and attacked the woman and her dog.

A mail carrier in Montgomery, IL received several stitches after he was bitten by a pit bull dog while delivering the mail. The 47 year old mail carrier stated he was delivering the mail in early afternoon of June 2nd when a bull mastiff dog attacked and bit him. The dog’s owner was charged with failure to affix a rabies tag on the dog and authorities discovered the dog was not current on its vaccination for rabies. There was no word in the report on the severity of the mail carrier’s injuries other than the fact that he required several stitches to close the wound that he suffered.

A Rhodesian Ridgeback dog was involved in the second dog attack since 2009 when the dog allegedly bit off a 3-year-old girl’s ear. The victim in the second attack that occurred in April also involved a little girl. The girl was bitten in the shoulder and suffered puncture wounds as a result of the bite. An investigation into the incident was launched but there is no word on the findings uncovered in the investigation as of yet. The dog’s owner also has other Ridgeback dogs that have been involved in similar incidents.

A 5-year-old girl had part of her ear torn off after a German Shepherd mix dog attacked her. The dog had a history of attacks in the past according to the report on insidebayarea.com. The incident occurred on April 27th as the dog’s owner went to visit the little girl’s parents. The girl attempted to pet the dog but the dog lunged at her and bit off the tip of her right ear.

Naples, FL attorneys representing dog owners of dogs that have been designated as “dangerous dogs” argue that the dangerous dog laws in Florida are unfair to owners and unconstitutional. According to the Naplesnews.com website, a first offense can result in the “dangerous dog” designation and the dog could be quarantined for 10 days.

In Rock Hill, SC, a 48-year-old woman was bitten by a pit bull dog when she was walking into a Family Dollar store. The pit bull was being held on a leash by a 16-year-old. The woman argued that the 16-year-old made no attempt to pull the dog away when it lunged at the 48-year-old woman and bit her on her right thigh. The woman suffered a bite mark but the dog did not tear through the woman’s clothes or skin.

A two-year-old boy suffered a very large gash on his cheek after a 5-year-old Rottweiler jumped on top of him and bit him. Aidan Walton had to have nine stitches to repair the wound to his cheek. Authorities also discovered the dog had attacked another two-year-old in 2004 causing injuries.

A 55-year-old man suffered serious bite wounds after being attacked and severely bitten by dogs. 55-year-old Larry Armstrong suffered serious puncture wounds, skin tears, and several scrapes. According to the AP News report, Armstrong’s death was ruled an accident and his history of seizures could have contributed to his death.

A 39-year-old woman suffered puncture wounds to her arm and abdomen after being attacked by a pit bull dog in Palm Beach County, Florida. The woman was bitten by a male pit bull that had puppies with the woman’s female pit bull. The woman reportedly picked up one of the puppies to put it with the rest of the litter when the male pit bull jumped up and attacked the woman.

A Las Vegas woman was severely injured following an attack by the family dog. The attack occurred late in the evening. A pit bull dog attacked the woman and two others causing the woman to lose some fingers and she could possibly lose her foot as a result of the injuries she suffered in the attack. The two other victims – a 23-year-old woman and a man both suffered bites as well. The man was forced to shoot and kill the pit bull dog. Neither he nor the 23-year-old victim suffered serious injuries in this incident. The cause of the attack is unknown at this time.

A 17-month-old girl from Salina, KS was bitten for a second time by her family’s pet dog. The pet Labrador was released to an animal shelter where they are keeping it under observation. The shelter coordinator Rose Base stated she believed the incident occurred because neither the dog nor the child was properly supervised. This is the third report that the shelter has received from the family. The first incident occurred when the family’s previous dog bit somebody else. In that incident, the family released the dog to the same animal shelter as in this incident. The dog was held at a vet’s office for 10 days and later received a vaccination for rabies.

A 53-year-old man has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child, harboring a dangerous dog, attacks by a dangerous dog, and attacks causing severe injury or death stemming from an incident on March 24th of last year when his 4-year-old dog bit an 18-month-old girl and her grandmother. The 18-month-old girl’s uncle also stated that the dog bit his sister causing her to require 15 stitches.

On November 23rd, an 11-year-old girl was attacked by a Rottweiler dog in Columbus, OH. Rayann Shott had to undergo three surgeries to repair the damage that was done to her leg. Shott and her sister were reportedly walking in an alley when the dog ran from an open gate. Shott stated she put herself in harm's way to avoid any harm to her little sister.

In Dundas, Ontario, Canada, 84-year-old Richard Reining was walking his Shih Tzu dog when he was attacked by a Rottweiler dog that escaped through a wooden fence in its yard. As the dog was attacking, a mail carrier saw the dog from a block away and ran to stop it. Larry Van Bradt sprayed the dog with mace. A second mail carrier came to Reining’s rescue and Reining was later transported to a medical facility, suffering from cuts and bite wounds on both hands and his face.

A 64-year-old man collapsed and died as a result of a heart attack that he suffered just after stepping in to rescue his mother-in-law from a dog attack. The incident occurred on November 23rd. Joan Hardin had just returned home from Thanksgiving dinner and was taking dishes out of the car. A Catahoula bull dog and a pit bull knocked Hardin to the ground and caused her to suffer an injury to her head. Richard Martratt used his pocket knife against the pit bull.

A woman in Seattle, WA was out jogging when a pit bull attacked the woman and bit her five times. The dog fled from its owners watch and ran toward the woman. A man who witnessed the attack ran to save the woman, stepping between the dog and the woman to allow her to get away, and the man was bitten during that time. Katelynn Doolittle stated that she most likely would have been killed had Lloyd not come to her rescue. The report on NWCN.com states there is no information whether the dog’s owner will be facing charges or not or if the dog will be put to sleep.

An investigation into the death of a 4-day-old baby as a result of a dog mauling has been ongoing as investigators try to figure out how the attack happened. According to a report on jacksonville.com, investigators will be questioning family members and those who knew the family regarding several possible contributing factors including if the child was unsupervised or not.

In a report from Ohio CBS affiliate 10tv.com, an Ohio man pleaded not guilty to sixteen misdemeanor charges stemming from an October 5th dog attack. According to the report, four dogs attacked 67-year-old James Bright while he was walking along an intersection in Columbus, OH. Bright had to undergo three surgeries to repair damage from the attack including skin grafts.

A Florida family has filed a wrongful death lawsuit on behalf of an 83-year-old man that was attacked and killed by a pit bull. According to the report, on tcpalm.com, 83-year-old Robert J. Klatch was operating a golf cart when his Shih Tzu dog was attacked by a pit bull. Klatch tried to save his dog but the pit bull threw him from the golf cart and bit him.

WAVY-TV 10 in Virginia Beach has reported that a 4-year-old boy was bitten by an Akita dog while attending a birthday party. Police stated the Akita attacked the boy when he tried to pet it in the kitchen of the home where the birthday party was taking place. Johnny Dillow had to undergo plastic surgery following the attack and received over 50 stitches to repair the puncture wound damage to the boy’s face.

According to a report on the UK website telegraph.co.uk, a 10-year-old girl was violently attacked by two Rottweiler dogs and a few yards from her grandmother’s house. The report states Rhianna Kidd was riding her bike and one of the dogs grabbed her and pinned her to the ground.

On Wednesday August 25^th in Sioux City, Iowa an 19^th-month-old child was rushed to St.Lukes Regional Medical Center after being brutally mauled by a neighbor’s dog.   The toddler is in stable but is still in serious condition.

WAAF 48 News in Lexington, Alabama have reported that a 6-year-old child was transported to a hospital after being bitten in the eye by a dog. According to the report, the dog was found in the boy’s yard and the boy went to pet the dog. The dog began growling and when the child stood up, the dog attacked him and bit him in the eye and in both of his ears.

According to a report from KGO-TV in San Francisco, postal workers in Sunnyvale, CA are seeing an increase in dog-bite related attacks. The report states that in the last nine months, seven attacks have occurred. While none resulted in serious injuries, there is a concern amongst postal workers regarding this problem.

The Sunshine Coast Daily News has posted a report that a 6-year-old boy was bitten by a terrier dog while he was at the park with his father. According to the report, the dog’s owners simply walked away without checking on the boy to make sure he was fine.

The Associated Press has posted a story on Google News about the deaths of 78 people as a result of attacks from rabid dogs in Bali, Indonesia. One of the victims was an 8-year-old boy that was attacked and bitten on the calf. The boy’s family was told that he would only require stitches to fix the wound and that no cases of rabies had been reported in the area.

According to a Google News report from the Associated Press, a 71-year-old man in Tennessee went into cardiac arrest after two pit bull dogs attacked him. The report states he died at the hospital and the immediate cause of death was not known at the time.

The City Council of Worcester, Massachusetts has given preliminary approval to ordinance that would impose stricter restrictions on owners of pit bull dogs. A decision will be made next month whether or not this ordinance will pass to state law.

An Oklahoma woman is currently recovering from a dog attack according to local Oklahoma City website, KOCO.com. Mary Wolf was reportedly attacked by five pit bulls just outside her home after getting out of her vehicle. Wolf then got back in her car but was unable to call anybody for help. A neighbor eventually saw Wolf and called for help.

Louisville, Kentucky website wlky.com has posted a report regarding two dog bite cases that present potential flaws in dangerous animal laws. In one case, 10-year-old Evan Underwood was bitten in the face and required 12 stitches to repair the injuries that occurred. The boy’s parents believed that more action should have been taken against the owner of the dog as well as the dog itself.
