Georgia state laws on dogs could be on the verge of change following a press conference with lawmakers and a 10-year-old girl that was attacked and bitten by two pit bull dogs. The victim suffered injuries to her arms that caused her to lose full function of her right arm and she lost part of her left arm. The attack happened when the girl, then 8 years old, was walking through her neighborhood and was attacked by the two dogs. The victim spoke at the press conference and stated she believes dog owners should be sentenced to serve jail time if they own a vicious dog that attacks another person.

A 10-year-old girl was the victim of a dog attack involving a Yorkshire terrier dog in the United Kingdom. The dog was one of 3 dogs owned by an elderly woman and police are now looking for the dog’s owner following this incident. The elderly woman reportedly caught a bus to a hospital after the attack had happened. The girl had been bitten in the ankle and suffered bruising as a result of the attack. Police are asking citizens to provide any information they can regarding the attack or the whereabouts of the elderly woman that owned the dog.

An Illinois dog owner was left in critical condition after being attacked and bitten by their two American Bulldogs. Illinois police said they responded to the call in the morning hours and found the dog owner had been bitten by the dogs. The extent of the owner’s injuries was not released but police were conducting an investigation into the incident. The two dogs were taken into custody by animal control pending results of the investigation. The owner of the dogs was taken to a medical facility for treatment of their injuries following the attack.

In Saugerties, NY, police and the dog warden will be enforcing a “two bite” law that states if a dog bites a human or another dog twice, that dog could be euthanized. Pet owners are strongly encouraged not to allow their dogs to roam free in order to prevent potential dog bite cases according to Saugerties police. This rule has already been set in place but it will now see stronger enforcement against attacking dogs. An 8-yerar-old boy in Florida had to be rushed to the hospital because of injuries he suffered as a result of a pit bull dog attack. The attack happened outside the boy’s home and the dog chased the boy inside the home following the attack. The homeowners chased the dog away and animal care authorities removed it from the area. The child was transported by air to a medical facility for treatment of wounds to his face. Despite the cuts to his face, the boy was not more seriously injured in the attack. There is no report whether or not animal control authorities maintained custody of the dog.

A child in North Carolina faced possibly life-threatening injuries including an injury to the face after being bitten by a pit bull. According to the property manager of the apartment where the child lived, the child was trying to take food or a toy from the dog when it attacked and bit the child. Emergency crews arrived to the child’s home to find that the child suffered a bite to the face and other injuries in the attack. The child was transported to a medical facility for treatment but the condition of the child is unknown.

A woman has been forced to relocate her dog out of the city limits of Brownsville, TX after the dog bit a 2-year-old girl in the face. The toddler was reportedly wandering into the dog’s yard and tried to give the dog a hug when it attacked and bit her. The 28-year-old owner gave custody of the dog to Animal Regulation and Care Center but she must find a new place for the dog outside of the city limits as a result of the attack.

After a small Terrier mix dog attacked and bit a 19-month-old child, the dog’s owner was cited for allowing his dog to run loose without supervision. The Kentucky courts will be handing down a fine to the 64-year-old man in connection with this incident. The attack originally occurred when the 19-month-old was trying to pet the dog on her family’s porch. The child was bitten in the face and had to be treated by medical staff. Authorities found the dog had not had a rabies vaccination and had to be quarantined at a Davidson County animal shelter.

In Pittsburgh, PA, a 6-year-old boy was bitten by a large Akita mix as he was walking home from school. The first-grade student was walking past a fenced-in area when the 1½-year-old Akita mix went underneath the fence and attacked the boy. In Moorhead, MN a report had been released about a 52-year-old woman who claimed she was standing at a corner waiting for a bus to arrive when a medium to large-size dog suddenly lunged at her and bit her several times in the face. The woman originally told police she believed the dog was a pit bull or bull dog and that the attack was unprovoked. When police investigated further the following day, the victim admitted to police that the attack actually happened at an acquaintance’s home as she was reaching down to pet some puppies that the dog had.

Heath, Ohio police are on the lookout for a couple after their dog reportedly bit a 7-year-old boy at a Sonic Drive-In restaurant. Police said witnesses reported a group of children speaking with the couple asking if they could pet their dog. The woman reportedly told the kids that the dog was not always friendly with children. The children started to walk away from the couple when the dog lunged at the 7-year-old and bit him.

A mail carrier in Montgomery, IL received several stitches after he was bitten by a pit bull dog while delivering the mail. The 47 year old mail carrier stated he was delivering the mail in early afternoon of June 2nd when a bull mastiff dog attacked and bit him. The dog’s owner was charged with failure to affix a rabies tag on the dog and authorities discovered the dog was not current on its vaccination for rabies. There was no word in the report on the severity of the mail carrier’s injuries other than the fact that he required several stitches to close the wound that he suffered.

A Rhodesian Ridgeback dog was involved in the second dog attack since 2009 when the dog allegedly bit off a 3-year-old girl’s ear. The victim in the second attack that occurred in April also involved a little girl. The girl was bitten in the shoulder and suffered puncture wounds as a result of the bite. An investigation into the incident was launched but there is no word on the findings uncovered in the investigation as of yet. In Rock Hill, SC, a 48-year-old woman was bitten by a pit bull dog when she was walking into a Family Dollar store. The pit bull was being held on a leash by a 16-year-old. A Las Vegas woman was severely injured following an attack by the family dog. The attack occurred late in the evening. A pit bull dog attacked the woman and two others causing the woman to lose some fingers and she could possibly lose her foot as a result of the injuries she suffered in the attack. The two other victims – a 23-year-old woman and a man both suffered bites as well. The man was forced to shoot and kill the pit bull dog. Neither he nor the 23-year-old victim suffered serious injuries in this incident. The cause of the attack is unknown at this time.

A 17-month-old girl from Salina, KS was bitten for a second time by her family’s pet dog. The pet Labrador was released to an animal shelter where they are keeping it under observation. The shelter coordinator Rose Base stated she believed the incident occurred because neither the dog nor the child was properly supervised. This is the third report that the shelter has received from the family. The first incident occurred when the family’s previous dog bit somebody else. In that incident, the family released the dog to the same animal shelter as in this incident. The dog was held at a vet’s office for 10 days and later received a vaccination for rabies.

In Dundas, Ontario, Canada, 84-year-old Richard Reining was walking his Shih Tzu dog when he was attacked by a Rottweiler dog that escaped through a wooden fence in its yard. As the dog was attacking, a mail carrier saw the dog from a block away and ran to stop it. Larry Van Bradt sprayed the dog with mace. A 64-year-old man collapsed and died as a result of a heart attack that he suffered just after stepping in to rescue his mother-in-law from a dog attack. The incident occurred on November 23rd. Joan Hardin had just returned home from Thanksgiving dinner and was taking dishes out of the car. A woman in Seattle, WA was out jogging when a pit bull attacked the woman and bit her five times. The dog fled from its owners watch and ran toward the woman. A man who witnessed the attack ran to save the woman, stepping between the dog and the woman to allow her to get away, and the man was bitten during that time. Katelynn Doolittle stated that she most likely would have been killed had Lloyd not come to her rescue.
