Single-Vehicle Accident Seriously Injures 4 People in MO

Four people ages 19 and 20 were all seriously injured in an automobile accident in St. Claire, MO when the vehicle they were in went off the road and slammed into a tree after being airborne for a short time. The 19-year-old driver was given a citation for driving while intoxicated and authorities were conducting an investigation to determine if the accident was caused because of a driving stunt they were trying to pull off. The accident occurred when the 19-year-old driver lost control of the Volkswagen causing it to flip multiple times before landing on its roof.

The 19-year-old driver will be charged with assault and armed criminal action in connection with this accident. All four people injured in this accident are still hospitalized at this time as an investigation is underway.

Authorities are trying to determine if the four victims were trying to perform a hill jumping stunt when the driver lost control of the vehicle. If that is the case, the 19-year-old driver could be given more charges in connection with the accident for endangering all four of them in this type of stunt. Driving erratically or recklessly in this way is extremely dangerous and can easily injure somebody as this incident demonstrates. If the investigation finds that the 19-year-old driver was responsible for causing this accident, he should be held accountable for his actions and face the proper punishment according to the law.

Reckless driving could easily result in a fatality or serious injuries and the four victims in this incident were very lucky to have been able to walk away from this accident at all. Although they did suffer serious injuries, they could still recover fully from their injuries. Unfortunately, there are many accidents that occur that do not end the same way and the victims often suffer life-threatening injuries or fatality. This is especially true in incidents that result in the vehicle flipping over multiple times and/or ending up on its roof as in this incident. Now all four victims are still in the hospital as a result of a potentially serious reckless driving case.

The families of the victims could potentially sue the 19-year-old driver or the driver’s family if the investigation reveals that he was responsible for injuring the other victims in this accident because he was trying to pull off a hill jumping stunt as the authorities believe. Nobody should have to face injuries of any kind because of reckless driving and victims of these accidents should contact an attorney to hold the perpetrators of these accidents responsible for their actions.

Traffic Safety Board Urges Cell Phone Ban

The National Traffic and Safety Board in Washington D.C. have agreed to a recommendation to ban the use of cell phones while driving including hands-free and hand-held phone systems. This recommended ban comes just over a year after a fatal traffic accident in Missouri that took the life of a 19-year-old driver operating a pickup truck. Officials found that the driver had received 11 text messages in 11 minutes just before the crash had occurred. The accident occurred when the pickup truck slammed into a tractor-trailer and 2 school buses subsequently collided with the pickup truck.

The driver of the truck and a student on one of the school buses was killed as a result of this accident. Nearly 40 people were injured in the accident as well.

According to a survey conducted by the NHTSA, many drivers believe that texting and cell phone use in general is only dangerous when others are doing it but not when they are doing it themselves. However, the real truth is that regardless of who is using a cell phone while driving, everybody is put in danger because of those actions and everybody could end up in a serious accident. Distracted driving is one of many significant causes of automobile accidents resulting from many drivers texting, trying to change the radio station, and otherwise taking away their focus from the roadway. Although some may not want to face the truth of the situation; it is extremely easy for anybody to end up in an automobile accident because of distracted driving.

To some, banning the use of cell phones while driving may seem like too severe a law to enact in the United States. However, if more people were aware of the number of accidents that occur as a result of distracted driving, particularly associated with texting or otherwise using a cell phone while driving, many people would see that it is a very serious danger. Accidents caused by distracted driving can cause serious injuries to all parties involved and can lead to fatalities as well.

Anyone who is injured or loses a loved one as a result of a distracted driving accident should be able to get the assistance they may require to get compensation and justice for their pain, suffering, and the damages they have to pay for as a result of the accident. Distracted driving should never be a factor in any automobile accident. As long as laws such as this one take effect and more and more people pay attention to them, the number of accidents related to cell phone usage could be reduced.

Four Teenagers Lose Lives in New York Auto Wreck

Four teenagers in New York lost their lives in a late evening automobile accident when an automobile struck two Asian exchange students while they were walking. Two others in the vehicle were killed as a result of the accident as well. The car ultimately caught fire after colliding with an embankment. Just before crashing into the embankment the vehicle struck the two teenagers walking along the side of the road. The accident is still under investigation by police to determine what the cause of the accident was. All four teenagers were 17 and 18 years of age. The two in the vehicle were both 17 years old.

This accident demonstrates how quickly something can either alter or take away a person’s life. In a split second, one single event can seriously affect a person’s life or the lives of their family, as in this incident. Police were unable to determine what caused the accident, but there are a number of things that could have led to the driver crashing into the embankment. It is very easy for a driver to lose control of their vehicle due to a sudden obstruction in the road or some other factor they do not foresee.

Unfortunately, many victims of automobile accidents tend to be teenagers for several reasons. Many teens do not have as much experience operating a vehicle as other drivers on the road, which can sometimes result in serious accidents. They may not be prepared for some of the dangers on the roadway and that could result in an accident such as this one. Pedestrians are often in more danger compared to other drivers on the road because, as this incident proves, a single collision with another vehicle could result in a fatality or extremely serious injury.

There are a number of things that drivers and pedestrians alike need to be on the lookout for, especially slightly inexperienced drivers such as teenagers. There are a number of ways that an accident can occur and it is not always possible to avoid it, as this accident shows. If you have been involved in an automobile accident that was the direct result of somebody else’s negligence or poor judgment, you are entitled to compensation for your injuries and damages to your vehicle and an attorney can help you to get that compensation you deserve.

3 Teenage Students from Ole Miss Killed in Car Crash

Three teenage students from Ole Miss traveling to Oxford to attend church were killed in an automobile accident. The three victims, one 18 years old and the other two 19 years old, were killed when the 18-year-old’s Infiniti vehicle went off the road in I-55 near the town of Vaiden. According to a Highway Patrol Trooper, the vehicle went off an embankment and flipped several times before coming to a stop on its roof. All three of the victims were wearing their seatbelts and neither alcohol nor drugs were thought to be a factor in the accident. The three were all killed instantly upon impact.

The patrol trooper said the vehicle went into a drop-off and the vehicle struck the median of the road as they were traveling. There are many automobile accidents that occur because drivers do not see partitions in the roads or because they cannot stop in time before colliding with barriers in the road. Even if high speeds are not a factor in the accident, a vehicle could still be going the speed limit and end up in a severe collision with the median of the road. The fact that there was a drop-off in the road could have played a part in this accident as well. It is possible that the markings on the roadway were not clear enough and the 18-year-old driver did not see the drop-off in the road. Even at normal speeds it would have been very difficult for the driver to avoid going over the drop-off in the road.

Unfortunately, since this was a single-vehicle accident, there may not be much that can be done for the family’s to get compensation for their loss of loved ones. Unless the victims’ families can find something wrong with the roadway the victims were traveling on, this incident was a random automobile accident that may not have been avoided. However, there are still a number of factors that would need to be taken into consideration to determine if the families can seek legal representation for their loss. The most important factors revolve around the roadway itself where the victims were driving.

Two People Including Child Trapped Under Farm Vehicle

A 22-year-old woman and her 2-year-old son were found trapped underneath a piece of farm equipment after their vehicle collided with the piece of equipment. The woman reportedly rear-ended the farm vehicle which left the front-end of her vehicle trapped underneath it. The farm vehicle was towing a large trailer unit. The driver of the farm vehicle was uninjured in the accident but the woman received moderate injuries.

The 2-year-old boy received minor injuries and was transported to the same medical facility as his mother. Both victims were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident but they had been trapped underneath the vehicle for a lengthy period of time.

Driving in the vicinity of large vehicles like farm equipment or construction equipment could prove to be very dangerous for several reasons. In a turning lane, the large vehicles make very wide turns and can easily collide with other vehicles on the roadway. Also, as this incident shows, driving behind large vehicles is dangerous because you can never be sure when they are going to stop. If, for example, a vehicle is tailgating another, it is very easy to collide with them if they stop suddenly. If the vehicle being tailgated is a large vehicle like a farm vehicle or semi-truck, the damage to the tailgating vehicle could be very extensive and the injuries to the driver could be serious.

This incident could have been much worse if the victims involved had been killed as a result of the impact or from being trapped underneath the farm vehicle. Authorities said the victims were trapped for a long period of time in the first place; they could easily have died in the accident if they had been trapped longer. There are many instances when the damage to the vehicle also contributes to the injuries that victims suffer in these types of accidents. If the front-end of the vehicle collapses in toward the victims, they could suffer injuries ranging from broken legs to internal injuries to their midsection or facial area. In some cases, the car could also catch on fire which could lead to extensive burns to the victims.

Woman Tries to Kill Herself Following Car Wreck

After a serious five-vehicle accident that sent two people to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police reportedly found one of the people involved trying to set herself on fire inside another person’s home. Police said they found the woman, who was believed to be in her late twenties, inside an elderly woman’s home near a stove with all the pilots on. When the stove pilots did not work, the woman went outside and tried to set her hair on fire with a lighter.

The 50-year-old man involved in the accident suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The woman reportedly ran to a home that was more than 1,000 meters away from the scene of the car wreck. The five vehicles involved in the wreck were found spread across the sidewalks on both sides of the street where the accident occurred.

Police were not sure why the woman attempted to set herself on fire following the accident. It is possible the woman suffered some sort of head injury and was not aware of what she was actually doing. If the woman was aware of what was going on, she was willingly putting herself in danger and she could have easily put others in danger in the area around the home. The owner of the home was not inside at the time when the woman ran into the home but if the woman had successfully started a fire, it could have spread far if it could not be contained.

There is also the question of what caused the five-car pile-up in this incident as well. Police were still investigating to figure out exactly what caused the crash. Although there were others who were unharmed in this incident, it could have been far worse and there could have been multiple fatalities in the crash. If an investigation finds that one of the parties involved in the accident was responsible for it, they could be held liable for the injuries that did occur. A two-vehicle accident could sometimes be serious itself but when the damage is multiplied as in this incident, it puts more people at greater risk for serious injury or death. If police find someone was responsible for this accident, they should be held accountable for the damage and injuries that occurred.

Mother and Child Killed in Auto Accident

An automobile accident that occurred in Franklin Township, NJ left a woman and her 8-year-old daughter dead as a result of the injuries they sustained. The accident occurred when the woman attempted to pass a slowing vehicle in front of her. The woman reportedly lost control of her vehicle as she attempted to pass the other and struck the curb. The right-rear tire of her car then blew out and caused the vehicle to cross into oncoming traffic.

A minivan taxi then struck the woman’s vehicle killing both the woman and her 8-year-old daughter. Her 7-year-old son was also in the vehicle at the time of the accident. The 7-year-old’s condition was not known but the 8-year-old girl died as a result of serious injuries. The woman suffered critical injuries to her head and chest in the accident. The driver of the taxi and the passenger suffered injuries to their leg and left arm respectively. An investigation was to be conducted to determine the cause of the accident.

It is always very tragic when a child loses their life in some sort of accident but the fact that the child was only 8 years old in this accident makes it much worse. One of the most common mistakes people make when crossing from one lane to another in traffic is not ensuring that they will have enough clearance to cross. Although it is unclear if that was the case in this accident, there is a high possibility that that is what caused the accident.

It is also possible that traffic was too heavy behind the vehicle being passed for them to slow down enough to allow the woman to cross over. Whatever the case may be, it is very unfortunate that the woman and her daughter both lost their lives in this accident. This accident demonstrates that it is very important to be careful when crossing over from one lane of traffic to another. Now a family must face the reality of the death of two loved ones as a result of an accident that might have been avoidable. The most unfortunate part is that one of those loved ones is an 8-year-old child and a 7-year-old child could still be in the hospital with potentially serious injuries as well.

Dean of College in Virginia Killed in Auto Wreck

A traffic accident in Virginia left one man with severe injuries to his legs and killed another. The man who was killed was a dean at J. Sargeant Community College in Virginia. Police believe the 68-year-old man was killed on impact when the other vehicle struck his on the driver’s side while at an intersection. The intersection where the crash occurred had traffic lights set up. The victim’s car struck a tree after being hit by the other vehicle.

Neither speed nor alcohol was believed to be factors in this accident. Family members believed the victim was on his way home from the college where he worked when the crash occurred. The school had recently received a grant from the National Science Foundation to develop courses in advanced technologies for vehicles and to help in vehicle repair training. The victim was also hoping to develop accident-avoidance systems at the school.

The fact that the victim in this incident was trying to make a difference in the world to prevent automobile accidents makes this accident extremely tragic. The technologies that he was trying to develop could potentially have had a tremendous impact on the statistics that are currently rising regarding automobile accidents. Some of the accident-avoidance systems that the victim had been trying to create include a sensor that would recognize when a vehicle might be moving off the road and send a signal to the driver. Technologies like this could easily prevent serious accidents from occurring, especially involving inattentive or distracted drivers.

More importantly, the accident the victim was involved in could have been avoided if the technologies could have been used. In addition to the sensor technology, the victim was also interested in creating technologies that would allow a vehicle to be computer-controlled. Although the victim lost his life in this accident, the technologies he was trying to create and the courses he was trying to develop at the school where he worked could possibly be used to help save other people’s lives if they are involved in an automobile accident. Although it is impossible to predict every situation where an accident may occur, with the aid of certain technologies and safer driving, the number of accidents could be greatly reduced.

Woman Files Suit after Son's Death in Auto Wreck

The mother of a 20-year-old man that was killed in an automobile accident involving a 22-year-old man has filed a lawsuit against the 22-year-old. The victim’s mother claims the 22-year-old driver was driving under the influence of alcohol that directly caused the victim’s death. The accident occurred when the defendant in the suit collided with the victim’s van. The victim died later of the injuries that he suffered.

The lawsuit also names the restaurant where the 22-year-old driver had been drinking, arguing that the employees continued to serve him alcohol even when he was visibly intoxicated. The restaurant’s owner stated they have a strict policy to not serve alcohol to patrons who appear intoxicated. Police said the defendant showed signs of intoxication right after the crash had occurred and he had a blood alcohol level of .22.

In some cases when a person is killed in an accident of some kind, there is not always a clear distinction as to who is to blame for the accident no matter how much the victim’s family may want to blame the accident on somebody. However, in this case it is clear that the 22-year-old driver should be held accountable for his actions because he made a conscious decision, despite poor judgment, to get behind the wheel of his vehicle knowing he was intoxicated.

People always feel they can handle drinking a certain amount before they are too intoxicated to drive. However, any amount of alcohol that raises the blood alcohol level above .08 is considered over the legal limit and you could face significant penalties, especially if you are involved in an automobile accident. In this case, although the restaurant claimed they have a policy that prevents them from serving alcohol to patrons that are clearly intoxicated, if witnesses saw the employees continue to serve alcohol to the defendant, or if they saw the defendant get alcohol from his friends, the restaurant could be held accountable for not following their policy and allowing the defendant to continue to drink.

Getting behind the wheel while intoxicated can pose a serious danger not only to the driver but as this incident demonstrates, it can also pose a danger to those around them. Incidents like this one could easily be avoided and the victim’s family deserves to have some sort of justice on their behalf for the loss of their loved ones.

Car Hits Ambulance and Injures Three

A tragic collision on the northbound lanes of Interstate 25 in Santa Fe, N.M was the result of a wrong-way car that was traveling more than 100 mph. The wrong-way car was traveling southbound in a northbound lane when it collided head on with an ambulance at around 2:30am on Tuesday.

The collision resulted in two passengers being ejected from the vehicle that was traveling southbound. One of the passengers died instantly while the other was transported to the hospital. Police are still trying to determine who the driver was. The ambulance driver suffered bone fractures from her head to her toe and has been surrounded by family and medical staff since her arrival from the accident. Titanium rods were placed in both of her legs and she is now beginning the recovery process. Investigators are still unsure if alcohol played a part in the crash.

No matter how many safety precautions a person takes when they drive, it is still possible that a reckless driver will hit them and change their life forever. It is not easy to drive a public service vehicle like an ambulance because the reaction time to the accident and the ability to move and avoid the accident can prove to be challenging. The women in the accident now have to face expensive medical bills and countless hours of physical therapy that can put any family in financial stress. The individuals who caused this horrific accident should be held accountable for all the damages and emotional trauma. No family should ever have to endure this alone and without proper compensation for the damages.

Three-Car Accident Kills Two

On Tuesday, August 24, 2010 a three car accident in Kent, WA killed a man and a woman at about 8:46pm. The Kent Police are still not releasing the names of the victims until the information has been confirmed by the King County Medical Examiner and the family members of the victims have been notified. The man and woman who died were traveling in a Kia Sudan traveling northbound on 108th Avenue Southeast (Benson Highway) according to a media release by Kent Police.

The Kia attempted to make a left turn and collided with a Ford Explorer that was traveling southbound. The Kia then veered away from the impact and collided with an eastbound Mitsubishi sedan. The Kent police and fire department arrived at the scene within minutes and worked quickly to extricate the man and woman from the Kia which landed on its side. They died on the scene. The other drivers were uninjured. Police are still investigating the event to determine what caused the accident by reviewing video footage from nearby businesses.

Car accidents can be traumatic and unexpected especially when it results in a death of a loved one. There are many factors that could have contributed to a car accident, and it is possible that another person’s negligence is responsible for the loss or injury of your loved one. Do not allow the mounting hospital bills, funeral expenses and emotional trauma burden your family. Contacting an Arizona personal injury attorney can help you and your family find the responsible party and help you receive the compensation you deserve.

Police Officer Dies Following Car Accident

A report posted by policeone.com states that a Mississippi police officer died as a result of injuries he sustained in a car accident one month earlier. Deputy David Lambert was driving in search of another deputy when he swerved to avoid another vehicle on the road at an intersection.

The patrol car that Lambert was driving flipped over and Lambert suffered severe injuries as a result. Lambert underwent several surgeries in order to repair the damage from the injuries but ultimately it was too much and Lambert succumbed to the injuries. According to the report, Lambert is survived by his wife, seven grandchildren and three children.

This incident serves to show that any driver on roadways could face grave danger if they are in an automobile accident. Whether you are a law enforcement officer or an average citizen, there is no way to account for the dangers that you could face while driving along roadways. There are many things that can cross the path of a vehicle that could cause it to swerve and/or overturn. In many automobile accidents, drivers often suffer very serious injuries and in some cases even fatality. For more information on what you can do if you suffer any sort of injuries in an automobile accident and you are not at fault, visit Solomon and Relihan’s personal injury website.

Texas Auto Accident Leads To Wrongful Death Lawsuit

A Midland, TX family has filed a wrongful death lawsuit following an automobile accident that killed two people. The family of 47-year-old Mariana Lisa Robles of Midland, TX has filed a lawsuit against Justin Pruett after Pruett struck Robles’ head on.

The report states Pruett was driving a vehicle owned by the company where he is currently employed, A-1 Fire and Safety Equipment Company. Robles and her passenger, 47-year-old Joe Luis Ramon were both killed in the accident. According to the report, Pruett has a history of drug and alcohol offences, one of which Pruett was convicted for possession of marijuana 12 years ago. Pruett faces two counts of intoxication and manslaughter following Robles’ and Ramon’s death.

According to the report, the accident occurred when Robles came to a stop at an intersection and was attempting to make a turn onto an eastbound roadway. Pruett’s vehicle was heading in the opposite direction and subsequently crashed head on with Robles’ vehicle. Frontal impact auto accidents account for a majority of deaths related to auto accidents. A frontal impact collision can lead to extensive, very serious injuries, especially if the collision was not at an angle but square head-to-head as this incident demonstrates.

$15 Million Awarded To Parents of Santa Cruz Women

Mercurynews.com is reporting that the parents of two women from Santa Cruz, CA have been awarded $15 in a wrongful death lawsuit against the Enterprise Rent-A-Car company. The lawsuit alleges that a leak in the power steering fluid of the vehicle the two women – 24-year-old Rachel Houck and 20-year-old Jacqueline Houck – were driving caused them to lose control of the vehicle and crash.

The vehicle caught fire and the two women were killed. Prior to the settlement, Enterprise Rent-a-Car contended the lawsuit, arguing that it was Rachel Houck’s driving that caused the accident and not a malfunction with their car. However, after contending the lawsuit for five years, Enterprise Rent-A-Car admitted the accident was a direct result of negligence on their part.

When a company offers any type of product or service, it is their sole responsibility to ensure that the product or service they provide is entirely safe for consumers. In this instance, the Enterprise Rent-A-Car company should be held responsible for the accident since it is their responsibility to ensure that the cars they provide for rental are completely safe. Any malfunction or defect in a vehicle should be grounds to remove that car from their lot and repair it before allowing consumers to rent that vehicle again.

Pharmacy Damaged After Automobile Accident

A Rite Aid pharmacy was heavily damaged after an elderly woman crashed her vehicle through one of the walls of the store. On December 9th, 91-year-old Leona Ricker was driving her Chrysler Sebring when she veered into the Rite Aid store, destroying a wall and several windows. Nobody was injured in the accident including the driver and the passenger in the Sebring. When police questioned Ricker as to what caused her to crash into the store wall, she stated that she was unsure what happened. The pharmacy remained operational while firefighters and police officers cleared the area of debris and removed the vehicle.

This incident demonstrates that an automobile accident can occur at a moment’s notice and the driver may be completely unable to avoid any obstacles in front of them. The fact that Ricker could not explain what happened in the accident proves that there are always instances when something unexpected with the vehicle or others on the road can occur and cause a serious accident. It is very fortunate that nobody was hurt in this incident, including Ricker and her passenger. In many instances, people suffer serious injuries as a result of automobile accidents. Though this type of accident is not very common, the results could have been far worse, especially for customers inside the store, as they could have been harmed by the vehicle or surrounding debris from the accident.
