69 Vehicles Involved in Massive Pileup in Phoenix

Arizona authorities responded to a 69-vehicle pileup that occurred on Interstate 10 near the Downtown Phoenix area. The vehicles were involved in 3 separate collisions according to a report on KWTX.com.

Several people were treated on site for minor injuries and six people were taken to local hospitals, two with serious injuries. According to the report, the accident occurred after a rainstorm traveled through the Phoenix area on Saturday afternoon. There is no information regarding the specific injuries that people suffered in the massive pileup. No deaths were reported in this accident.

Poor weather conditions are among the highest reasons for automobile accidents. Inclement weather can result in severe injury because it may cause roads to become slippery or icy, which would cause a vehicle to lose control and cause an accident. It just takes one driver missing a turn or failing to stop and it can easily cause other vehicles to stop abruptly. If the roads are slippery, as in this incident, the vehicles’ tire treads will not be able to grab onto the road to prevent a major accident. In many cases, some drivers suffer extremely serious injuries and even fatalities.

Valley Doctor Arrested for Abuse

According to an article by abc15.com, a valley doctor has been arrested for allegedly assaulting and sexually abusing a female patient. Dr. Galen Johnson works as an OB/GYN in an Avondale facility. On Monday, Johnson was taken into custody after an investigation by the Departments Family Investigation Bureau.

The victim was a 28 year-old female who alleged that she was physically assaulted and sexually abused by Dr. Galen Johnson during a visit at the Estrella Women’s Health Center on May 18th. Johnson was immediately taken to MSCO jail for one count of assault and one count of sexual abuse. Police are currently looking for anyone with more information about the crime or the people involved in this case.

A trust between a patient and doctor should never be compromised. Sexual abuse can occur in various places. Doctor’s offices, nursing homes, and even hospitals can pose a potential threat. Predators often seek out those victims who are in vulnerable positions. If you or a loved one has been wrongfully abused by a doctor or health care provider, then contacting an Arizona personal injury attorney can help you receive the justice you deserve. If your physician or other health official is acting oddly, inappropriate, or if you feel uncomfortable during an examination then leave the situation immediately and find someone to talk to. Doctors who abuse their patients trust need to be brought to justice so that they do not hurt anyone else.

Phoenix semi-truck crash killing three is still a mystery

A semi-truck in Phoenix, Arizona kills three and critically injures a fourth occupant of a passenger car by running a red light according to an article by Emily Dean, appearing in the Arizona Republic on April 6, 2009.

Why did the driver of the semi-truck run the red light? Was it inattention or something more sinister, like fatigue as a result of not adhering to federal law requiring frequent driver rests when traveling interstate?

Unfortunately, driver fatigue is much too common when commercial pressures force interstate drivers to violate safety regulations.

Our prayers go out to the family of the victims of this tragedy and we can only hope that the owners and drivers of semi-trucks adhere to regulations designed to protect the public.
